Round 18 of the 2024 Formula 1 season rolls in this weekend as we head to the Marina Bay Street Circuit for the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon!

At the top of the driver standings is still Max Verstappen on 313 points, ahead of Lando Norris in second place with 254, and Charles Leclerc in third on 235. 

McLaren’s incredible run of posting impressive qualifying performances continued on Saturday in Marina Bay, as Lando Norris claimed his sixth career pole position and his fifth of the current season. 

The Brit set a 1:29.525 lap time in Q3, two-tenths of a second faster than championship leader Max Verstappen, who will line up alongside his closest title rival at the front of the grid on Sunday. 

Lewis Hamilton helped Mercedes bounce back from a few underwhelming outings in recent weeks, notching up a best lap of 1:29.841 to clinch P3, only marginally ahead of teammate George Russel in P4. 

After the euphoria of his sensational win in Azerbaijan last week, Oscar Piastri’s 1:29.953 was only good enough for fifth place, while Carlos Sainz lost control of his Ferrari during his qualifying and spun into the barriers, ending his session prematurely. 

Arguably the biggest winner and most impressive in qualifying was Nico Hulkenberg, who despite being knocked down a few places, was still fast enough to secure P6, ahead of both Ferrari’s.

Fernando Alonso, Yuki Tsunoda, Charles Leclerc and Sainz completed P7 to P10 respectively, while it was another dismal day at the office for Sergio Perez, who was eliminated in Q2 and will start 14th on the grid.
