Round 16 in the 2024 Formula 1 season heads to the Monza Circuit this weekend for the Italian Grand Prix. Let's recap the qualifying sessions and discuss our race prediction. 

Max Verstappen still leads the F1 driver standings, now on 295 points, followed by Lando Norris in second on 225 points and Charles Leclerc currently in third place with 192 points. 

Lando Norris' incredible qualifying form continued here in Italy this weekend, as the McLaren man once again surged to pole position on the grid with a time of 1m 19.327s. 

The Briton will be joined on the front row by teammate Oscar Piastri, who also clocked a very impressive time, just 0.109s behind Norris. George Russell in the Mercedes followed the Woking team in third.

Notably, the first six cars on the grid were separated by less than two-tenths of a second, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz claiming fourth and fifth respectively, while former world Champion Lewis Hamilton finished in sixth. 

It was a tough session for reigning champion Max Verstappen and teammate Sergio Perez. The Dutchman suffered a snap on his first flying lap and was unable to improve on his second, finishing down in P7 with the Mexican Perez in eighth. 

Rounding out the top 10 were Alex Albon for Williams and Nico Hulkenberg in the Haas respectively.
