Belgian Grand Prix Predictions & Betting tips - Formula 1
by Devesh Jaganath |
Round 14 of what continues to be an incredible 2024 Formula 1 season sees us head to Spa this weekend for the Belgian Grand Prix! Let’s recap what happened in qualifying and go through our prediction.
As it stands, Max Verstappen is in the lead in the driver’s standings, currently on 265 points. Lando Norris is second on 189 and Charles Leclerc rounds out the top-three with 162 points.
However, it has been anything but smooth sailing for the defending champion in recent weeks. The Red Bull ace put in the fastest qualifying time for the Belgian Grand Prix but will start from P11, suffering a 10-place grid penalty for making a change to the RB20’s power unit.
As a result, Leclerc will inherit pole for this weekend’s showdown after posting a time of 1:53:754, which was half a second slower than the Austrian. Joining the Ferrari driver at the front of the grid will be the other Red Bull of Sergio Perez, who finally overcame his unwanted habit of poor qualifying performances, clocking a time of 1:53:765.
The second row will feature Lewis Hamilton for Mercedes and Lando Norris, while the Brit’s teammate and winner in Hungary last week, Oscar Piastri will start in P6 alongside George Russell.
Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso and Aston Matin’s Esteban Ocon round out the P8, P9 and P10, respectively. Leclerc is on pole for only the second time this year.

Our Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1 prediction
While the money seems to be coming in on Lando Norris and Max Verstappen to find a step on the podium, we feel that many are overlooking Sergio Perez in this race.
The Mexican’s seat in the Red Bull is at risk this season following a string of poor performances, particularly in qualifying, and we feel that the pressure to deliver here is what he needs to find his way back to the podium. Our Belgian Grand Prix prediction: Sergio Perez Podium Finish!
