Game four of the NHL Stanley Cup finals sees the Florida Panthers looking to even things up when they host the Vegas Golden Knights. After racing out to a 2-0 lead on their home ice, Vegas would drop game three by a score of 3-2 in overtime. The result was Florida’s first ever Stanley Cup finals win in franchise history which saw them pull a game back and put the series at 2-1 heading into Saturday night’s showdown. A win for the Cats would see things evened up at 2-2 heading back to Las Vegas for game five, while a loss would mean they’ll be facing elimination in Sin City.
The game three loss snapped a three game winning streak for the Golden Knights who have posted an excellent record of 14 wins and six defeats in the 2023 postseason. Vegas might count themselves somewhat unlucky to have walked away with a loss in the previous game as they could have easily gone up 3-0 in the series on another night. Still, they likely won’t be too concerned with the way that things played out. The two goals scored was the lowest that Vegas had put up in the previous four games as they had been on a roll, scoring 18 total goals in the three previous games.
Florida did what was required of them, winning game three on their home ice to claw their way back into this series. A loss would have been devastating and likely would’ve spelled the end to their 2023 Stanley Cup dreams. It was always going to be tough for Vegas to come into a hostile environment against a team fighting for their playoff life in front of the home crowd. The Panthers will have to keep up that same energy for game four if they want to even this series up at two games a piece. If they are to win, it’s going to have to be another low-scoring affair. Florida has thrived off of their defense in this postseason run which has allowed them to upset the odds. Only once in their previous 11 games have the Panthers managed to score more than three goals.

It’s going to be difficult for Florida to contain this high-powered Vegas attack for a second straight game like they did in game three. Vegas has shown that they can score at will against this Panthers team, putting up 12 goals in the first two games alone.
