Finland take on Bulgaria in the Men's European Volleyball Championship. This is a Pool B match and after the first set of games, Finland are top with Bulgaria in fifth place. Finland defeated Croatia in their opening match, winning that in straight sets 25-19 25-19 25-22. That was a welcome win for the Finns as they had lost four of their previous five matches. Although top of the pool, they need to finish in the top four to qualify for the next round. They are ranked 22nd in the world which is 11 places higher than their opponents. The Finns have had some success in the last two European Championships, finishing 16th in both tournaments. Not since 2013 have they reached the last eight.

Bulgaria will be all out to get a win against Finland in Pool B. They began their European Championship campaign with a 3-1 loss to Spain who are two places above them in the latest world rankings. The Bulgarians finished 20th in the last World Championships and 15th in the 2023 Nations League. The last two European Championships have seen them finish in 11th place. Coming into this tournament, Bulgaria have not been in good form. The loss to Spain was their third successive defeat, though the other two were against top ten ranked teams.
