Fenerbahce will be at home against Olympiacos on Match Day 1 of the 2024/25 EuroLeague Basketball season. The two face off on Friday and here’s our preview and prediction.

Fenerbahce won the last two times they hosted Olympiacos and are the bookies’ favourites here too. The Turks had a disappointing start to their domestic season and will want to avoid the same in Europe.

Sarunas Jasikevicius’ men came undone in the final seconds of their Turkish Super Cup duel with Anadolu Efes. They lost 83-82 and also had mixed results in their six matches in pre-season.

One of their build-up losses was another one-possession defeat against Olympiacos. Fener will want to tap into their strong campaign in Europe last year when they reached the final four.

They lost in the third-place playoff to Olympiacos in another nail-biting finish. In this game, they’ll be without Tarik Biberovic due to injury.

Olympiacos have won the last three times, including friendlies, that they played against Fenerbahce. The Greek giants have been on top many times in this fixture and will arrive in Turkey fully confident of victory.

Georgios Bartzokas’ men, who finished third in Europe last season, are in red-hot form. They have won their last seven matches, the last two being competitive matches in the Greek Super Cup.

After seeing off Peristeri 79-74 in their first match, the Reds prevailed in another tight affair against grand rivals Panathinaikos. They won 86-85 to end a run of three successive defeats against Panathinaikos.

Olympiacos have two players unavailable for this match. Naz Mitrou-Long will miss due to personal reasons while Moustapha Fall is injured. The good news though is that Shaquielle McKissic, who is yet to play this season, travelled with the team.
