Felix Auger Aliassime vs Nick Kyrgios Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Wimbledon Championships
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Nick Kyrgios is a player you either love or hate thanks to his often appalling behaviour on court. He takes on the 16th seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime in the third round at Wimbledon. The winner will face either fourth seeded Alexander Zverev or 31st seed Taylor Fritz in the last sixteen. Kyrgios is the world number 60 and that's 15 places lower than he was at the start of the year. He's only played two tournaments prior to Wimbledon. Both were in Australia, reaching the last sixteen in Melbourne and then the third round of the Australian Open. He beat Ugo Humbert before losing to Dominic Thiem. It was a match he should have won after taking the first two sets. Kyrgios finally left Australia just to take part in this tournament. He's bidding to make it into the fourth round at Wimbledon for the third time. His best here was the last eight in 2014. This week has seen him again Ugo Humbert, though he had to go to 9-7 in the final set to get the win. The second round was a bit more comfortable with a straight sets win over Gianluca Mayer. He was his usual self though, at times asking the crowd where he should place his next serve.
He has a much tougher match here as he faces the 16th seed. Felix Auger-Aliassime is the world number 19 and before this week, had played 33 matches winning 20 of them. He began the year ranked 21st and will hope to improve on not the greatest of Grand Slam records. If winning this match, he'll be in the fourth round of a Grand Slam for only the second time. He previously got to the fourth round in the 2020 US Open and 2021 Australian Open. His only previous appearance at Wimbledon was in 2019 (the last time this event was held), reaching the third round where he lost to Ugo Humbert (that man again!). This year has seen the Canadian has seen him get to the final of a Melbourne tournament, beat Denis Shapovalov in the Australian Open and two last eight appearances. His grass court season got off to a good start making it to the final in Stuttgart (dare I mention he beat Humbert on the way to that final) and then beat Roger Federer in Halle before a semi-final loss to that man again! Auger-Aliassime has beaten Thiago Monteiro and Mikhail Ymer to get to the third round. He's been playing a lot more than his opponent and can get the win in this match.
