Nine of his 43 victories in 2023 have come in 11 outings on indoor hard courts. His recent upturn in form has propelled him to 11th in the live ranking and 10th in the live race. The Pole is in contention for a place in the ATP Finals in Turin and will boost his chances significantly with a win. Hurkacz defeated Auger-Aliassime the last time they met, which was on grass in Halle in 2022. The seven-time tour champion defeated unseeded Ugo Humbert in three sets in the semifinals.
