Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Medvedev the last time they faced off. He won in straight sets at the Olympics to end a seven-match losing streak to the Russian.

In his impressive form this season, he will be confident of securing a second victory. Auger-Aliassime advanced to the quarters after being handed a walkover in the second round by Hamad Medjedovic.

The former world number six has moved up to 21st in the live ranking. He has compiled a dominant 11-3 record, resulting in two titles.

Medvedev had won seven successive meetings with Auger-Aliassime before they battled in Paris last season. One of his victories was by straight sets in the semi-finals in Doha in 2023.

Medvedev, who won that 2023 Doha tournament as a debutant, has never lost a match in this ATP 500 event. The Russian, who is currently ranked sixth in the world, did not return to defend his title last season.

He has now won seven straight matches in Doha with the most recent being a 2-0 success over Zizou Bergs. Medvedev defeated defending champion Karen Khachanov in the first round.
