14th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime needs to bounce back from his Olympic disappointment. The Canadian faces unseeded Flavio Cobolli in the first round of the National Bank Open. Read on for our prediction of this match.

Auger-Aliassime lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the Olympics semi-final. Then another loss was suffered when being beaten by Lorenzo Musetti and missing out on the bronze medal. Now he returns home and back onto hard courts.

The 14th seed is the world number 19 and has been climbing back up the rankings this year. He hasn't had the greatest of years on hard courts but his level of play has increased as the year has progressed.  He did reach one semi-final in Montpellier and will hope for similar success this week.

World number 33 Flavio Cobolli  a career-high) isn't the easiest of first round opponents for Auger-Aliassime. They have had one previous meeting and that was in the hard court tournament held in Acapulco with Cobolli winning in three sets.

The Italian reached the final in Washington last week, losing to Sebastian Korda in the title decider. He won the first set but only won a couple of games in the next two. Earlier in the week he had defeated Ben Shelton.

Earlier in 2024 he made it to two hard court quarter-finals and the last 32 of the Australian Open after coming through the qualifiers. This could be a tight match and we go for it to have three sets played.
