Felix Auger Aliassime vs Andrey Rublev Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Marseille
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Felix Auger-Aliassime lost eight finals in three years, can he now win two in successive weeks? The Canadian third seed takes on second seeded Andrey Rublev in the final of the Open 13 tournament in Marseille. It's been a big year for Auger-Aliasime with a win with Canada in the ATP Cup. That was followed by a quarter final at the Australian Open, giving away a two sets to love lead to Daniil Medvedev. He began the year ranked 11th but after being Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Rotterdam final last week, he's up to ninth. Winning this tournament will see him climb above Casper Ruud into eighth place and second in terms of ranking points earned this year. This week has seen him beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, fifth seeded Ilya Ivashka and qualifier Roman Safuillin, all without dropping a set. On his way to the Rotterdam title, Auger-Aliassime beat Andrey Rublev in three sets. Before that he'd lost twice to him in 2018 and 2020. All three of their matches have gone to a final set.
Andrey Rublev is the world number seven, a drop of two places since the start of the year. Rublev lost in the last 32 of the Australian Open but showed better form in Rotterdam before being beaten in the last four by Auger-Aliassime. He has had wins this week over Richard Gasquet (after losing the first set), Lucas Pouille in three sets (middle set lost) and in the semi-finals, ninth seeded Benjamin Bonzi, again in three sets. That's not the hardest of routes to a final and this is definitely a step up. Back Auger-Aliassime to get the win here.
