Unseeded Kateryna Baindl will face wildcard Fanny Stollar on Friday in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Budapest Grand Prix. The winner will advance to play either eighth seed Anna Karolina Schmiedlova or the unseeded Clair Liu in the semifinals. Fanny Stollar is through to the quarterfinals for the first time in what is her sixth appearance here. She defeated fifth seed Tatjana Maria in three sets in the last round. This was her 11th victory on clay and the 18th in the 30 matches she has so far played in 2023. Her form on the surface has helped her secure her first title of the season which came in Orlando in the ITF circuit. By advancing to this round, the Hungarian has moved up a massive 102 places to 339th in the live ranking.

Kateryna Baindl has also moved up the live ranking and is now ranked 94th. She will also be aiming at advancing from this round for the first time. Baindl has made it through to the last eight now for the third time in her last four appearances. To equal this feat again, she defeated the wildcard Amarissa Kiara Toth in straight sets. This was her second 2-0 win in the competition and came in dominant fashion as she lost just four games against the Hungarian. Despite her form, the Ukrainian is still on a losing record having lost 12 of her 20 matches. Half of her victories have come on clay and so too have most of her losses (five).
