Facundo Diaz Acosta and Federico Coria will battle each other in an all-Argentine semi-final tie at the Argentina Open. The winner will then play either Carlos Alcaraz or Nicolas Jarry in the final. Facundo Diaz Acosta is looking to advance to the first tour final of his career. This is the first time he has advanced this far in a tour-level tournament. The 23-year-old defeated Coria in the first round in this very tournament last season and this will have him confident of a win. Diaz Acosta has compiled a 7-4 record so far this season and five of his wins have come in six outings on clay. He is yet to drop a set in three matches here and defeated Dusan Lajovic in the quarterfinals. Advancing to this round has propelled him up 12 places in the live ranking. Federico Coria has won twice in three meetings with Diaz Acosta with both victories being achieved on clay. He won the last meeting back in October in this very round in the Buenos Aires challenger. As he is more experienced in the latter stages of tour events, the 31-year-old will be confident of a win. Coria has twice advanced to a tour final in his career. Both have been on clay with the more recent one coming last season in Cordoba. Coria defeated Sebastian Baez, the man who defeated him in the Cordoba final, in straight sets in the quarterfinals. This was his 10th win in 14 outings this season. All ten wins have come on clay. He is now up a massive 21 places in the live ranking to position 85. This is Coria’s second successive semifinal and he will hope to not suffer the same fate as in Cordoba earlier this month.
