Fifth seed Daniil Medvedev faces unseeded Fabian Marozsan in round two of the US Open. It's going to be a tough ask for Marozsan to reach the third round. Can he do it? Here's our match prediction.

Next up for the winner is either 31st seed Flavio Cobolli or unseeded Zizou Bergs. Medvedev has an excellent record in this tournament and was the champion back in 2021. That remains his only Grand Slam title.

He's also reached the final in New York on two other occasions, including last year. His 2024 campaign began with a four-set victory over Dusan Lajovic, dropping the second set. He won the next two for the loss of only four games.

The Russian is the world number five but a place higher in the Live ATP Race. He won five ATP Tour titles in 2023 but is yet to win one this year but has reached two finals and three other semi-finals.

Fabian Marozsan is at 51 in the latest rankings but was a career-high 36th in May of this year. The Hungarian is playing in this Grand Slam for only the second time. Last year he made his debut in New York and lost in round two.

There were times in his first round match when an early exit looked likely. He trailed qualifier Hamad Medjedovic by one set to love and two sets to one before recovering. He eventually won 6-4 in the fifth.

Marozsan's best hard court performance this year has been a last eight in Miami. However, he'd lost his last two matches in the run-up to this Grand Slam. We tip Medvedev to win this in straight sets.
