The Exeter Chiefs will look to start their Gallagher Premiership campaign on a positive note this Saturday when they take on the Leicester Tigers at Sandy Park. The Chiefs will look to improve on their seventh-place finish last season, and with the Tigres finishing just five points behind them, there is very little between these two sides heading into this contest. Exeter will hope to forget about their shortcomings from the end of last season when they failed to capitalise on a man-short Leicester, losing 40-22. It was a vital win that would have seen them overtake the Harlequins on the final matchday to finish sixth overall.

That loss meant that the Chiefs had only managed to win four of their last eight matches across all competitions.

However, when the Chiefs are at home, a certain bit of class is apparent, as in their last five matches they have won four and lost just one match.

Although Leicester had been reduced to 14 men late on, they had already produced a stellar performance to the delight of their home fans as they saw off Exeter in their season finale. 

With that result, the Tigers managed to break a four-game losing streak and will hope that that result will be a catalyst into this season to get them off to a winning start. 

However, Leicester will be away from home this weekend which has proved to be a challenging task for them, as their last three matches on the road have resulted in a loss.
