Eva Lys defeated another qualifier Zeynep Sonmez to book this clash with Kartal. She won in straight sets and has now equalled her best-ever performance at a tour event. The German is seeking her first tour final appearance after having lost in the last two tour semis she played.

Lys’ did her profile a lot of good when she defeated two-time defending Monastir champion Elis Mertens in the second round. She has compiled a 27-14 record participating across all three tennis levels. Progressing to the last four has moved her 16 places up in the live ranking to 116th.

Sonay Kartal is having her best-ever performance at a tour tournament. Before arriving for her Monastir debut, the Briton had never won more than twice in the main draw at a tour event.

She won her last two matches in straight sets with the most recent victory being against fellow qualifier Yuliia Starodubtseva.
