We're guaranteed an unseeded player in the last eight of the Internazionali Femminili di Palermo. Camila Osorio takes on Erika Andreeva with the winner facing either third seed Mayar Sherif or lucky loser Sofya Lansere in the quarter finals of this outdoor clay court tournament. Osorio was ranked 74th at the beginning of this WTA Tour event but is up to 70th in the live rankings. A win here can take her up another four places but that's still well below her career high of 33rd achieved in April of last year. The Colombian has had a good year to date and is 52nd in the Live WTA Race. The semifinals were reached in the Lyon hard court event and a last eight appearance was achieved on clay in Reus. Osorio got to the last 16 of the Rome Masters this year, beating Caroline Garcia in the previous round. The first round of this tournament saw her beat wild card Fiona Ferro for the loss of seven games.

Erika Andreeva was ranked 159th at the start of this tournament. The Russian was as high as 114th three months ago after getting to the last eight of an ITF clay court event held in Portugal. That included a win over then world number 64 Anna Blinkova. This is her fifth time this year in the last 16 of a WTA Tour event and her second in a row. Her most recent tournament was on clay in Contrexeville but her only win came against a player ranked outside the top 200 in the world. Andreeva caused an upset in the first round when knocking out sixth seeded Lucia Bronzetti in three sets. That didn't look likely after losing the first set but only two games were dropped in the next couple of sets. Now she bids for another upset but Osorio is our tip to progress to the last eight.
