Ever since England lost to Australia on Saturday the critics have been sharpening their knives and slamming the host nation for their failure to reach the knock-out stages of this tournament.  It was never going to be easy to qualify and the draw was affected by Wales dropping below Samoa and Argentina in the world rankings and ending up in pot three.  Nevertheless not many of us expected England to lose consecutive Saturday showdowns at Twickenham against Wales and Australia.  At least third place is guaranteed so they won't have to qualify for the next tournament. Now they have to face Uruguay in a rather meaningless game they'd probably prefer not to have to play.  There have  been nine changes made to the team for this game and they take on a Uruguay side that has lost all three of its games in its tournament. Uruguay's only other game against England saw them lose 111-13, but Uruguay have improved in recent years.  They have lost their three games by a total of 139 points but haven't really been humiliated in any of their matches. Most of the tries against them have come in the second half as the amateurs just run out of steam. Their defeats have been by 45, 62 and 32 points so a handicap of 68 is I fear far too high for England to overcome and Uruguay have to be backed here.
