England - South Africa Predictions & Betting tips - ICC Men's T20 World Cup
by Devesh Jaganath |
England and South Africa will meet in their second 2024 T20 World Cup Super Eight fixture on Friday afternoon at the Beausejour Stadium.
The Three Lions qualified for the second round by the slenderest of margins, edging out Scotland on net run rate, while the Proteas are still unbeaten after winning all four of their group-stage matches.
Both sides made a winning start to their Super Eight campaign and another victory here will put them in a very strong position to reach the semi-final.

England - South Africa Squad Analysis
Travis Head is now up to seventh place in the leading run-scorer standings in the competition with 147 in four innings after posting a tournament-high of 87* in the last match.
The England bowling pace attack struggled to make much of an impact against West Indies with only Jofra Archer managing a wicket of the four seamers.
Jos Buttler may be tempted to consider bringing in Sam Curren for this match, especially considering the short turnaround time between matches.
Quinton de Kock’s knock against the US has moved him up to 13th place in the leading run-scorer standings, and the Proteas will need him to continue in that vein with the top-order largely failing to impress in this competition.
The major consideration for Markram will be whether to maintain two spinners in the side. Ottneil Baartman was the player to make way for Shamsi in the last match and we could see that move reversed in this one.
England - South Africa Form Analysis
After an underwhelming group stage, England seem to be finding their best form and head into this match off the back of a very impressive eight-wicket victory over the West Indies yesterday morning.
The West Indies set a very defendable target of 181 in the first innings, but England came flying out of the blocks and secured the victory with 2.3 overs to spare.
Perhaps more impressively, they did so for the loss of just two wickets, with Phil Salt playing another masterful innings at the top of the order. The England opener smashed an excellent 87* in just 47 balls and was supported well by Jonny Bairstow, who notched up 48* (26).
Up next for England is South Africa, a side that they have beaten 12 times and lost to 12 times in 25 previous T20Is.
In recent times, though, it is South Africa that have been the more successful side in this contest, having beaten England in the most recent three-match series 2-1 in July 2022.
The Proteas have been flawless in this competition to date, and are one of only three teams to have played and won all four of their group stage matches. In Group D, they were drawn alongside Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Netherlands.
On Thursday, South Africa took on co-hosts the United States and secured an 18-run victory. Batting first, the Proteas managed 194/4, with Quinton de Kock finally finding some form, scoring a steady 74 from 40 balls, while Aiden Markram got 46 (32).
On a batsmen-friendly wicket, Kagiso Rabada shone for the South Africans, picking up 3/18 in his four overs. With that, South Africa have now won six of their last ten T20Is, but the bookies have them down as the underdogs in this one.
