Britain’s Emma Raducanu takes on the eighth seed Yue Yuan in round two of the Korea Open. Can Raducanu cause a seeding upset? Here’s our match prediction.

Raducanu won her first round match against Peyton Stearns in straight sets. It was a tough match though with both sets being decided by a tie-break.That win ended a run of two successive losses for her.

It’s taken the 21-year-old up ten places to 60th in the live rankings and 50th in the WTA Race. This is only her third tournament since Wimbledon. A win here will be only the third time in 2024 that she’s won two successive hard court tournament matches.

Yue Yuan struggled in the first round and had to go to three sets to beat qualifier Elena-Gabriel Ruse. The first set was dropped but only four games were lost in the next two sets.

Yuan is at 40th in the live rankings, four places below the career-high she set in May of this year. The Chinese player is three positions lower in the WTA Live Race. Current form saw her get to the last eight in Monterrey last month.

It’s been a struggle though with seven of her last ten matches being lost before her first round win over Ruse. Her best result this year came in February when winning the ATX Open in Texas, USA.

The winner of this match will face either top seed Daria Kasatkina or unseeded Hailey Baptiste in the quarter-finals.This could be a close match and we go for over 19.5 games to be played.
