This has been the perfect response to losing three on the trot before she arrived to make her second appearance here. The American will now aim to avenge her loss to Sasnovich in Cleveland last month. She dropped her first set of the tournament in the last round against fifth seed Belinda Bencic. The win allowed her to get back into the top 100, catapulting her 14 places to 88th in the live ranking. Sasnovich is playing in the main draw in San Diego for the first time.
