World number 17 Karen Khachanov is the second seed in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open. He takes on unseeded Emil Ruusuvouri for a place in the quarter finals of this hard court tournament. Whoever wins this match could face fourth seeded Alexander Bublik in the last eight. Khachanov is up a place in the live rankings after beating unseeded Fabian Marozsan in the second round after receiving a bye to that stage. The Russian has won six of his nine matches played this year. One semi-final has been reached and that was in Marseille. He also got to the fourth round of the Australian Open but was then beaten by Jannik Sinner who went on to win the title. He's 2-1 up in previous matches against Ruusuvouri but lost to him in three sets in Hong Kong at the start of this year.

Emil Ruusuvouri has been making his way back up the rankings this year. He was 43rd when this tournament got underway but is now two places higher. A win over Khachanov could see him beat his career high of 37th. He's won ten matches this year with a run to the Hong Kong final (where he lost to Andrey Rublev) and a last eight appearance in Rotterdam. This week has seen him get straight sets wins over Giulio Zeppieri and Christopher O'Connell. This looks like being a tight match with both players in good form and we tip Ruusuvouri to win.
