Third seed Anhelina Kalinina will face unseeded Elsa Jaquemot in the second round of the 2024 Prague Open. This will be the first time Kalinina and Jaquemot face off on the tour and below we have the stats and a prediction for the match.

Elsa Jaquemot had a convincing start to her debut here, defeating Jessica Maneiro in straight sets. She relinquished seven games against a player ranked 59 places above her in the WTA. Her 27th win of the season was also her first at tour level this year and bumped her to 142nd in the live ranking.

The 21-year-old Frenchwoman isn’t a dominant hardcourt player and this year has compiled a 2-2 record on the surface.

Anhelina Kalinina is also making her Prague debut but the Ukrainian did not have a smooth start at all. The 27-year-old played one of the longest matches this year as her first-round showdown with Sara Bejlek lasted three hours and three minutes.

She needed seven games to win the first set and in the second, lost by way of a tiebreaker. After a grueling marathon, she will hope to have enough left in the tank to battle Jaquemot. She has the upper hand in this fixture though, having beaten Jaquemot twice previously.

Their most recent showdown took place two years ago in the ITF circuit. Now with a 20-18 record, the current world number 47 has had three semi-final finishes at tour level this year. A second-round match against either Zeynep Sonmez, Dominika Salkova, Magda Frech or Astra Sharma awaits the winner here.
