There'll definitely be an Italian player in the semi-finals of the indoor hard court Transylvania Open. Seventh seed Elisabetta Cocciaratto takes on unseeded Lucia Bronzetti for a place in the last four. Here's our match prediction.

The year has started poorly for Cocciaretto with her first three matches lost in straight sets. That made it six successive losses for the Italian. A win finally came in the first round of this tournament with a win over Irina-Camella Begu and that was followed up by a win over Ana Bogdan.

No set have been dropped by her this week and just three games lost against Bogdan. Cocciaretto is now 57th in the live rankings.

It's also been a slow start to 2025 for Lucia Bronzetti. Her first four tournaments saw her beaten five times. In Hobart, the 26-year-old lost in the qualifying rounds, was reinstated as a lucky loser and then lost in round one.

This week has seen her get some wins under her belt with victories over Simona Halep (only losing two games against the now retired player) and third seed Peyton Stearns in straight sets.

Bronzetti last played in a hard court semi-final in Gangzhou last October. We tip her to get the win over her compatriot.
