Elina Svitolina vs Nadia Podoroska Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA French Open

It's been another Grand Slam women's singles full of shocks and unlikely names making the latter stages. Elina Svitolina is the highest remaining seed in the draw (there are only two others left at the time of writing this preview) but has never won a Grand Slam singles title. The third seed's best previous performance were reaching the semi-finals of the 2019 Wimbledon and US Open tournaments. So far this year, she's reached the third round of the Australian Open and didn't play in the US Open. The world number five has won two tournaments this year, a hard court event in Mexico held in March and last month, Svitolina won a clay court event in Strasbourg. Svitolina has only dropped one set on her way to her third French Open quarter final and her first since 2017. It was Renata Rickstuhl who took a set off her in their second round match. A much better performance came in the fourth round though, she beat Carolina Garcia for the loss of just four games.

Nadia Podoroska had to qualify for this tournament and had never previously won a match in a Grand Slam main draw. The only time she'd made it to the last 128 was in the 2016 US Open. The Argentinian began the French Open ranked 131st in the world. Most of her year has been spent on the second-tier ITF tour and she's had a great deal of success at that level. This includes winning her first two tournaments of the year and reaching the semi-final of the next. Her preparation for this tournament saw her get to the last four of the Prague Open. So far in Paris, Podoroska has beaten 23rd seeded Yulia Putintseva. The fourth round saw her have to go to three sets to get past Barbora Krejcikova. This is her toughest task to date and the tip is for Svitolina to win in straight sets.
