Two seeded players face each other in the last 32 of the Australian Open. Fourth seed Jasmine Paolini takes on 28th-seeded Elina Svitolina for a place in the last 16. Who will reach the last eight? Read our match prediction below.

Jasmine Paolini is attempting to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the fifth successive tournament. Between 2017 and 2023, the Italian never made it past round two of any Grand Slam.

This year has gone well for her so far with four of her five matches being won. This week has seen the 29-year-old beat qualifier Wei Sijia (losing just four games) and unseeded Renata Zarazua with only five games lost. 

The winner of this match will be up against either 15th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia or unseeded Veronika Kudermetova in the fourth round.

Elina Svitolina is 30th in the live rankings, a drop of three places. A win here will see her reach the fourth round in Melbourne for the second successive year. This is her first tournament since the US Open last August after having surgery.

On her return, the 30-year-old has had wins over Sorana Cirstea and Caroline Dolehide, both in straight sets.
