Ninth seed Daria Kastakina and world number 192 Elina Svitolina will on Sunday meet in the fourth round of the French Open. Svitolina has only played on clay this season and has a record of 11 wins and six losses. She has already clinched one title, in Strasbourg. The Ukrainian has ridden that momentum in Paris, where she is one win away from equaling her best result. Since getting back to action, Svitolina has been fast on the rise in the world rankings. She is now up 80 more places in the live ranking to number 112. A win on Sunday will see her get back into the top 100. Svitolina has defeated Kastakina in all six previous meetings with one being on clay.

Daria Kasatkina made it to the semifinals here last season. She will be keen to achieve that again and possibly go one better and play the championship match. The Russian has had a rocky campaign so far with only three more wins recorded than losses. She has however dominated on clay where she has won 10 of the 14 matches she has played. Kasatkina is yet to lose a set in Paris. She looked impeccable in her last win, defeating Peyton Sterns by the loss of one game. She has however dropped one place to 10th in the live ranking. The Russian will hope that her dominance enables her to claim her first-ever win over Svitolina. The winner of this tie advances to the quarterfinals where a showdown with either second-seed Aryna Sabalenka or unseeded Sloane Stephens awaits.
