Garbine Muguruza is the seventh seed for the Tokyo Olympics Women's Singles but the second highest remaining one. The Spaniard takes on 15th seed Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan. Spanish fans will be dreaming of both Muguruza and Paula Badosa (in the other half of the draw) both winning medals, perhaps even facing each other in the final. Muguruza has made it through to the last eight without dropping a set. Wins have come against Veronika Kudermetova (both sets going to 7-5), Wang Qiang (losing just three games) and Alison Van Uytvanck (only five games lost). The Spaniard is ranked ninth in the world and won the Dubai Tennis Championships earlier this year. She's only played Rybakina once before, winning in straight sets in Berlin this year.

Elena Rybakina is ranked 20th in the world, that's just three places below her highest ever position. Wins this week have come against Sam Stosur, Rebecca Peterson and Donna Vekic without a set being dropped. She's bidding to reach her second semi-final of the year. The other came on grass in Eastbourne when beating Elena Svitolina, before losing to eventua winner Jolena Ostapenko. The last eight was reached at Roland Garros, where Rybakina beat Serena Williams. It's not been the hardest of routes to the last eight for Rybakina, this is a lot tougher and Muguruza can be backed to get the win.
