Elena Rybakina vs Brenda Fruhvirtova Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA French Open

by Devesh Jaganath in Tennis Predictions

World number four, Elena Rybakina, will take on qualifier Brenda Fruhvirtova, who is ranked 130th, in the first round at Roland Garros on Tuesday. The winner of this match will go on to face either Linda Noskova or Danka Kovinic in the second round. Rybakina will be brimming with confidence coming into Roland Garros following an excellent title run in Rome earlier this month. At that tournament, the Kazakh overcame Jelena Ostapenko and Anhelina Kalinia in the final rounds to earn her first WTA 1000 title on the clay. She has now featured in four finals and picked up two titles this year. The first came on her favoured hard court at Indian Wells, where she beat both Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets in the semi-final and final, respectively. Rybakina is now 30-7 for the year and 9-2 on the clay. While the clay is not her preferred surface, she is certainly one to watch here in France and will want to get her tournament off to a solid start in this one.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Brenda Fruhvirtova has continued a bright start to her career, qualifying for her second grand slam of the year. Her first came at the Australian Open back in January. The Czech teenager won the W40 Bengaluru tournament last month and has a record of 11-4. However, she hasn’t played much on the clay this year, currently just 3-1. Here in France, Fruhvirtova beat Antonia Ruzic, Kathinka Von Deichmann, and Alice Robbe during the qualifiers, dropping only one set in those three matches. The teenager won as many as eight ITF titles last season, and incredibly all of them came on the clay. She now steps onto the big stage and aims to claim a big scalp in Rybakina, but she will know that it will take arguably the best performance of her career to pull it off.
