Elena Rybakina vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA French Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
There are only two seeds higher than Elena Rybakina left in the women's singles at Roland Garros. Considering Rybakina is the 21st seed, that shows how many surprises there have been at the French Open. Rybakina bids to reach the semi-finals by beating unseeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenko. The Kazakh player will be in the top 20 after this tournament but her form has been a bit inconsistent this year. It started well with a run to the last eight in Abu Dhabi. Her form wasn't maintained though and before this tournament, she'd only won two of her matches on clay this year. It hasn't been the hardest of routes to the last 16 with wins against Elsa Jacquemot, Nao Hibino and Elina Vesnina. The difficulty level went through the roof in her next match as she took on Serena Williams. Rybakina caused a major shock with a straight sets win over the former French Open champion.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenko is a former world number 13 but began this tournament as world number 32. It was ten years ago when the Russian was 13th in the rankings and that was also the year she also got to the last eight at Roland Garros. The long wait for another quarter final in Paris is finally over. The next barrier to break down is making it to the last four of a Grand Slam after losing six times in the last eight. Her 2021 clay court season has gone well with a semi-final in Madrid with four top 25 players being beaten that week. This tournament has seen her defeat Christina McHale, Ajla Tomljanovic and then third seeded Aryna Sabalenka and Victoria Azarenka, seeded 15th. Pavlyuchenko is the tip to win this match.
