Round one of the outdoor hard court Dubai Tennis Championships sees unseeded Ekaterina Alexandrova face qualifier Veronika Kudermetova. A match against top seed Aryna Sabalenka in round two awaits the winner. Here's our match prediction.

Ekaterina Alexandrova recently won the Linz title and last week reached the last four in Doha losing to eventual champion Amanda Anisimova. That run in Doha included beating top seed Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula.

Alexandrova is up to 22nd in the live rankings and only five players have earned more ranking points than her this year.

Veronika Kudermetova trails her opponent 3-2 in previous meetings but won their first two matches. Not since 2019 has she recorded a win over Alexandrova excluding a walkover in 2023.

Kudermetova is 51st in the live rankings and 28th in the WTA Race. The 27-year-old had to win two qualifying matches to reach the main draw in Dubai and did so without dropping a set. Her last tournament was in Doha where she made it through the qualifiers but lost to Magda Linette in round one.

2025 began well for her with a quarter-final In Hobart and reaching the last 16 of the Australian Open. Since then though she's failed to get past the second round. We tip Ekaterina Alexandrova to win this.
