She will hope to overcome this stuttering run and possibly secure her second title of the season. Her win over Gauff in Berlin earlier this year will have her confident of a winning start. Alexandrova has compiled a 32-19 record and has registered 16 of her victories on hard courts. She is currently ranked 20th in the live ranking.

Cori Gauff is in the form of her life. The American has won her last 12 fixtures resulting in two title victories. After winning the Cincinnati Open, Gauff again stood head over shoulders above everyone to lift the US Open. Her fourth title of the season was also her first Grand Slam success. She will now hope to keep this momentum going and add to her accolades. A more than three-week break since she last took to the court will have her rejuvenated and ready to go. Gauff is now ranked third in the WTA which is a career high ranking for her. She has compiled a composed 45-13 record and has won 34 of 40 matches on hard courts. All four titles that Gauff has won this season have all come on hard courts. Gauff defeated Alexandrova the first time they met, which was on hard court in Dubai in 2021.
