Alexandrova won the recent indoor hard court tournament in Linz. Wins this week in Doha have come against Emma Raducanu, world number one Aryna Sabalenka (after losing the first set), Elise Mertens and then sixth seed Jessica Pegula in three sets.

Those wins have stretched her winning streak to eight matches.  Alexandrova is up to 21st in the live rankings and fourth in the WTA Live Race.

Amanda Anisimova is in her first WTA Tour singles semi-final since being beaten in last August’s Rogers Cup in Toronto. The American’s best performance this year had been her quarter final in Hobart where she withdrew due to injury.

This week has seen her get a quartet of big wins. Victories have come against Victoria Azarenka, ninth seed Paula Badosa, Leylah Fernandez and on Thursday, Marta Kostyuk. Anisimova is up to 30th in the live rankings.

The pair are 1-1 in previous meetings. Animisova's win came in this tournament five years ago. Alexandrova beat her on clay in 2022. We tip the in-form Alexandrova to win this match.
