Edmonton Oilers vs St. Louis Blues Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

Early on Thursday morning, the 34-20-2, Edmonton Oilers will host the 30-25-2 St Louis Blues. The Oilers got themselves back on track against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday after three straight losses at home. An 18-8-2 record at Rogers Place is a smart return despite those recent poor performances. They lost 6-3 in St Louis on the 15th, a game that Edmonton led 2-1 at the end of the first period. It was a feisty game with the Oilers' Corey Perry dropping the gloves with Marco Scandella and less than two weeks down the line, this should be another. There has been a worrying lack of goals from Connor McDavid of late with just five in his last 18 and 0 in his last 10. Zach Hyman has done his best to fill the void, netting in five straight but the Oilers need McDavid to find the twine again.
This is the second half of a back-to-back situation for the Blues who play in Winnipeg against the Jets the night before. They are sub .500 on the road this season, lacking consistency with the offence and defence seeming to take turns in playing. They have been passed by the Nashville Predators in the second wild card spot, they still have a couple of games in hand over the Preds but those are no help if they lose them. They are in a string of eight games out of nine on the road so this is a huge stretch for them, losing 1-6 in Detroit against the Red Wings in the first of them. Robert Thomas leads them in points, scoring 12 in his last seven games, including three against the Oilers. His production will be key if the Blues are to make it to the playoffs.
