Edmonton Oilers vs Boston Bruins Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Matthew Newman | in NHL Predictions
A big clash on Thursday morning has the 33-12-11 Boston Bruins playing the 33-18-1 Edmonton Oilers. There has been no hotter team than the Oilers since Kris Knoblauch took over in mid-November. The winners of eight home games in a row, taking their home record to 17-6-1, only the Colorado Avalanche have lost fewer games at home this season. They were 2-3 behind in Arizona after two periods but scored four unanswered in the final frame to run out 6-3 winners last time. Zach Hyman got the winning goal there, his fifth of those this season as well as the 33rd overall to lead the team. Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard also have five game-winning goals, which is impressive from Bouchard given that he is a defenceman. Only four blue-liners have more points this season and only one has scored more goals. He has set career-best figures already in goals, assists and points, notching nine points in his last four games.
The Bruins came back from the All-Star Break with a seven-game home streak but only managed to win two of them. They were 16-4-3 at TD Garden heading into those, one of the strongest home records in the league but they conceded three or more in six of the seven games which has seen them slip to 6th in the league in goals conceded. Three of the defeats came against teams in the bottom third of the NHL in total points, teams who are struggling to stay in the playoff hunt so perhaps a string of games on the road will help with less pressure on them to perform. Five of their last six games on the road have gone beyond the 60 minutes of normal time so overtime again wouldn't surprise.
