Dusan Lajovic, lucky loser, and the wildcard Benjamin Bonzi will square off on Tuesday in the first round of the Paris Masters. The winner will then advance to play 13th seed Alex de Minaur in the second round. Dusan Lajovic will hope to make full use of the lifeline handed to him to play in the main draw here. The Serb lost in the final round of qualifying to Marcos Giron in three sets. That loss was the fourth in his last five outings. Lajovic has struggled to navigate on indoor hard courts and he has lost four of six matches on the surface. Ranked 46th in the live ranking, Lajovic has progressed past the first round in Paris once in his last six appearances. He defeated Bonzi the last time they met though this was five seasons ago.

Benjamin Bonzi is in terrific shape at the moment and he will hope to keep the momentum going in his home Masters. The Frenchman has won four of his last five matches and is coming off a runner-up finish in Brest in the challenger circuit. Bonzi has had his most success this year on indoor hard courts. It is where 17 of his 29 victories have been registered and three of his four challenger finals have been achieved. Bonzi defeated Lajovic the first time they met, which was back in 2017. The 27-year-old is in the main draw in Paris for only the second time in his career. Ranked 74th in the live ranking, Bonzi advanced to the second round the last time he played in the main draw here.
