Top seed Donna Vekic and the unseeded Strom Hunter will on Tuesday square off in the first round at the Hamburg European Open. The winner will then advance to the second round for a showdown with the wildcard Noma Noha Akugue. Donna Vekic started the week ranked 22nd in the WTA. The Australian has won 20 of the 29 matches she has played with eight of her victories coming on clay. Hunter specializes mostly in Doubles and is a two-time Grand Slam champion. She hasn’t had quite a significant success in her Singles career with the titles she has won, three, coming in the ITF circuit. The latest of which came earlier this season on hard court in Burnie. Hunter arrives for this match after her first-round elimination in Budapest. She is currently ranked 153rd in the live ranking.
