The American will now seek to make the quarterfinals of a major for only the second time in his career. His form on hard court will have him confident of achieving this feat. Fritz has won 32 of the 40 matches he has played on hard court and has won two titles on the surface. Advancing to this round has propelled him up one place to eight in the live ranking. The winner here will advance to the quarterfinals for the first time, to battle either second seed Novak Djokovic or the qualifier Borna Gojo.
