Diego Sebastián Schwartzman vs Grigor Dimitrov Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Mutua Madrid Open

13th seed Diego Schwartzmann could have a tough match on his hands in the Madrid Masters second round. He takes on Grigor Dimitrov who had a good run to the semi-finals in Monte Carlo recently. Schwartzmann is world ranked 15th which is a drop of a couple of places since the beginning of the year. 2022 began well for the Argentinian with a win over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the ATP Cup. He enjoyed a successful South American clay court season, reaching the finals in both Buenos Aries and Rio de Janiero losing to Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud respectively. He didn't do at all well in the hard court events held in Miami and Indian Wells but has prospered again during the European clay court season. Schwartzmann got to the last eight in Monte Carlo before losing in three sets to eventual champion Stefanos Tsitsipas. In Barcelona he went one round further and beat Felix Auger-Aliassime before a semi-final loss to Pablo Carreno Busta. He ha to go to three sets to get past Benoit Paire in the first round of this tournament. 

Five years ago, Grigor Dimitrov was ranked as high as third in the world. He began this week in 20th position but was as low as 37th in February. This year has seen him reach the semi-final in Adelaide (more about that in a moment), the last eight in Delray Beach and another quarter final at Indian Wells. On clay, Dimitrov reached the semi-finals in Monte Carlo, beating Casper Ruud on the way. Last week in Barcelona didn't go quite so well as he lost to Stefanos Tsitisipas in the last 16, winning just five games. Dimitrov reached the quarter finals of this tournament seven years ago. His last two visits had both ended in first round defeats before he beat Maxime Cressy this week. That was a bit of revenge for losing to Cressy in the Adelaide semi-final in January. This is his fourth match against Schwartzmann and he's won the last two, though the most recent match was in 2017 on grass at Wimbledon. Their only meeting on clay was in 2016 in the final of the Istanbul clay court tournament with Schwartzman winning in three sets. Go for the Argentinian to win this and have a side-bet on there being a tie-break. Both players had one in their first round matches.
