This is a big game for Diego Schwartzman who needs to reach the semi-finals to confirm a place at the ATP World Tour Finals. He's seeded sixth for the Paris Masters and takes on Daniil Medvedev who is seeded third. Schwartzman has had two good wins so far in Paris beating Richard Gasquet and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets. He only lost two games when beating Fokina, who had knocked out second seeded Karen Khachanov in the first round. Schwartzman has been in good form of late, mainly because of the fact tournaments were being played on clay which is his favourite surface. He reached the final of the Rome Master and then the semi-final at the French Open. Schwartzman did reach the last sixteen of the Australian Open at the start of this year and has twice been a US Open quarter finalist.

Third seeded Daniil Medvedev had a tough match on Thursday. He had to come from behind to beat Alex de Minaur in three sets. His previous match against wild card Kevin Anderson was 6-6 in the first set who beat him last week but had to retire injured in their match this week. Medvedev hasn't been in great form in the past few weeks. He also had early exits in Hamburg, the French Open and St Petersburg. He needs to rediscover the form that saw him reach the US Open semi-finals. Schwartzman will do his bank balance a great deal of good if winning this and getting into the tour finals.
