Diane Parry and Yuliia Starodubtseva are set to square off in the second round in Monastir on Thursday. Playing as the third seed, predictions favor Parry to beat the unseeded Starodubtseva in this match.

Parry had a dominant start to the competition and will be confident of securing another victory. The Frenchwoman defeated the wildcard Chiraz Bechri in straight sets in the first round. She won by the loss of just three games to claim her 27th win of the season.

A semi-finalist in Nottingham and Palermo, Parry is experiencing her best season at tour level. She has earned two other quarter-final finishes and a run to the fourth round at Indian Wells. Currently 53rd in the live ranking, Parry reached the quarter-finals at the Jasmine Open in 2022.

Yuliia Starodubtseva defeated the unseeded Suzan Lamens in three sets in the first round. This was her third successive victory adding to the two wins in the qualifying rounds. The Ukrainian is now seeking to claim two wins at a tour event for the first time in her career.

She won her first match at a tour tournament at Wimbledon and did so as a qualifier. Advancing to this round has allowed her to move up to 120th in the live ranking which is a new career high.

Starodubtseva, who has featured mainly in the ITF circuit, has won 32 of the 50 matches she played this season. This is the two players’ first career meeting and the winner will play Mai Hontama or Sonay Kartal in the quarter-finals.
