Detroit Red Wings vs Carolina Hurricanes Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Matthew Newman in NHL Predictions
An eastern conference clash sees the 15-9-4 Detroit Red Wings playing host to the 15-12-1 Carolina Hurricanes. The Red Wings are scoring an average of 3.79 goals per game so far this season, second-best in the NHL. Their rebuilding is finally starting to pay off with Alex Debrincat proving to be an excellent signing to play alongside the captain Dylan Larkin on the top line. They have a string of blue-liners who like to get involved in the play as well. Shane Gostisbehere is 11th in the league for points scored by a D-man while Jake Walman with his six goals is in the top 10 in that category for a defenceman. The issue with that with offensively minded D-Men, they are shipping goals at a huge rate at the other end of the ice which needs to be shored up if they are to cash in on their current position in the East come playoff time.
It has been a similar story for the Canes, scoring plenty of goals but seeing them go against them at the same rate. This is the final leg of a six-game road trip for them with a 1-4 record so far in those games being outscored 11-16. 10 losses on the road is a record that only the Blackhawks and Sharks can beat with 11 so they will be desperate to get back on their own ice after this trip to the Motor City. Seth Jarvis and Sebastian Aho both scored their 10th of the season in a 4-1 win in Ottawa in their last game, with three players now on the team in double figures. Few teams share the points around quite as much as the Canes do which denotes a team who plays well for one another, though one without a genuine star. They will like their chances of netting again here, but the Red Wings are strong enough to light, the lamp plenty themselves.
