NBA bottom-feeders the Detroit Pistons play host to the eighth-place Orlando Magic for this Eastern Conference matchup. Detroit comes into this contest following a 129-115 away defeat to the Indiana Pacers, extending their current losing streak to four games. The loss sees the Pistons with a league-worst record of 8-47 on the season, putting them 15th in the East standings. Things haven’t gone much better at home for the Pistons where they are just 4-23. Numbers wise, Detroit is playing slightly better than their record would suggest. They rank 23rd in scoring at 112.9 points per game and 25th in home points allowed at 120.1. However, this young team has had difficulty getting over the line late in games and they weren’t done any favors by that terrible 28 game losing streak which did a number on their confidence.

The Magic experienced a winning return to play following the All-Star break with an excellent 116-109 away victory over the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers. It was an impressive result given Cleveland’s recent record and Orlando’s inconsistency on the road. The Magic have been one of the league’s toughest home teams, posting a 18-8 record at the Kia Center in Orlando, but haven’t been able to carry over that same type of play on the road. They’ll be hoping that the win over the Cavs can act as a turning point as the team’s record improved to 31-25 on the year, placing them within a half game of the sixth-place Pacers. The Magic have now won their last two on the trot and seven of their last 10 overall. This is the second of a two-game road trip which sees Orlando closing things out against the Hawks tomorrow night.
