The sixth-place Detroit Pistons host the 14th-placed Charlotte Hornets for this afternoon tipoff in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. The Pistons are sitting at .500 with a 26-26 record while the Hornets have the third-worst record in the league at 13-36. Here’s our match prediction.

The Pistons scored 78 first half points and went into the break with a 29-point lead over the 76ers on Friday, resulting in a comfortable 125-112 home win. It was their third win in the last five games and snapped a two-game losing streak.

Perhaps the most impressive part of their recent victory was that they did it without the services of star point guard Cade Cunnginham. The 23-year-old missed the Philly game with an ankle injury but is listed as day-to-day and should return here.

Charlotte made a few trade deadline deals, bringing in Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht and Suns big Jusuf Nurkic while sending out Mark Williams.

The Hornets faced off against the Spurs on Friday with Miles Bridges hitting the go-ahead three-pointer with 1.4 seconds left to wrap up a 117-116 home victory. The result snapped a six-game losing run for Charlotte and marked their ninth home win of the season.

Both Knecht and Nurkic are expected to make their Hornets debut in this road game.
