A pivotal game five in the Western Conference second round in the NBA Playoffs is set to tip off with the Denver Nuggets hosting the Phoenix Suns. With the series delicately at 2-2 following the Suns game four 129-124 victory, a win in this game would put either team just one win away from a Conference Finals meeting against either the Lakers or the Warriors. The oddsmakers have the Nuggets as 1.55 favorites to advance thanks to having two of the remaining three games in Denver, while the Suns come in at odds of 2.60 to progress.
After falling into a 2-0 hole following games one and two in Denver, Phoenix would respond in a big way on their home court. The Suns took game three by a score of 121-114 before just edging out their opponents in game four to even things up and make this effectively a best-of-three series going forward. Phoenix will have to reconcile with their poor away results if they are to advance to the Conference Finals as they will be forced to win a road game to move on. The Suns managed only 17 wins in 41 regular season away trips and will have to contend with arguably the best home team in the NBA.
Denver likely won’t be too discouraged heading into game five despite losing two straight in Phoenix. The Suns needed mammoth performances from both Devin Booker and Kevin Durant and they still only managed an average six point winning margin in those games. Denver, meanwhile, have the best current player in the NBA who is playing at a never-before-seen level in Nikola Jokic.

Jokic is playing at an unreal level and the Suns have absolutely no answer for him. Phoenix just scraped by with two single-digit wins on their home court while Denver rolled through them with two double-digit victories in the first two games in this gym.
