A New Year’s night clash in the NBA sees a massive clash between the current leaders of the Western Conference and the Eastern Conference when the Denver Nuggets host the Boston Celtics at the Pepsi Center. The Celtics, current holders of the best record in the NBA at 26-10, are looking to extend their current winning streak to five games following their 116-110 home victory over the LA Clippers. Boston has recovered from a minor speed bump suffered earlier in December which saw them lose five of six games which started with a double-digit loss to the Warriors. Since then, however, the Celtics have recorded wins over the Timberwolves, Bucks, Rockets and Clippers, the first three coming by double digits. This will be Boston’s first of a four game road trip following their lengthy seven game homestand. 

Standing in their way is a Denver team that has shot up the rankings in the West thanks to winning eight of their last 10 games. They now sit with a record of 23 wins and 12 losses which includes a stellar home winning percentage where Denver has won 13 of their 16 games. The Nuggets bounced back after a one point loss to the Kings with a 124-119 home win over the Heat. Denver will have to be at their absolute best here as they will come up against the oddsmakers’ current favorite to win the NBA title. While the Nuggets have been one of the NBA’s best home teams this season, Boston have had a lot of recent success over the Nuggets and have won their last six straight regular season games between the two teams.
