Since the 1970s, only France have been able to retain the Men's World Handball title. Denmark go into this game hoping to match that ahievement as they face Sweden in an all-European final. The Danes won this title in 2019 but were disappointing in the European Championships that were held the following year. That's been put behind them in these championships with a series of good wins. All three preliminary round matches were won and with a goal difference of +45. A further three wins were recorded in the main round to qualify with ease for the knockout stages. Their toughest match came in the last eight when beating hosts Egypt, though it needed a penalty shootout to do so. The semi-final saw the Danish team take on Spain and it was another tough battle for the defending champions. The Danes won 35-33 thanks to 12 goals from Mikkel Hansen. That makes it 22 scored in his last two matches and 41 in the championships. He has a great scoring rate too with 41 goals from just 57 shots.

Sweden won this title in 1999, the previous time these championships have been held in Egypt. They reached the final the following year but didn't successfully defend their world title. This is their best performance since a fourth place finish ten years ago. The Swedes won all three of their preliminary rounds but like Denmark, also had problems against Egypt only beating them by a single goal. The main round saw them top their group but not in a convincing manner. Two of their games were drawn before a win over the Russian National Handball Federation. The quarter finals saw them beat Qatar 35-22 taking them into a last four game against France. They won that match 32-26 with 11 goals from Hampus Wanne. He has 48 goals in this championship from 63 shots, a 76% strike rate, just higher than of Hansen (72%). This should be a cracking final, Denmark have been in good form throughout, go for them to win and retain their title.
