All four teams in the semi-finals of the 2021 Men's World Handball Championships are from Europe. Defending champIons Denmark take on Spain with the winners facing either Sweden or France. Denmark are also the reigning Olympic Champions but not European title holders after a poor run last year. Their form has improved a lot since then though. They won all three of their preliminary rounds in this competition with a goal difference of +45. Three more wins followed in the main group, each with a winning margin of at least seven goals. That took them into a quarter final against the hosts Egypt. Despite ten goals from Mikkel Hansen, they had to go to a penalty shoot-out to get the win.

Spain won this title in 2013 but in the three holdings of these championships since, didn't finish higher than seventh. They have won the last two European Champiionships though and will be a major threat to the world champions. Spain finished top of their preliminary round group but it was a tough job doing so. They began with a draw against Brazil, then only had a one-goal win over Poland before an easier win over Tunisia. Much smoother progress was made in the main group with three comfortable wins. The last eight saw them defeat Norway. This is going to be a great match and Denmark look to have a slight edge on their opponents.
