Denmark take on Portugal in their final match in preliminary round Group F. Both sides have already made it through to the main round of the Men's European Handball Championships. Denmark are the reigning world champions but have never held the World and European titles simultaneously. Their first match in this group saw them beat the Czech Republic 23-14. It was all square at half time but a strong second half performance earned Denmark an opening win. Saturday saw them take on Greece and that match was won 40-28 taking them to the top of the group with a goal difference of +21.  It's already been a successful year for the Danes with a Golden League event being won. They haven't lost a match since 2022 and are now unbeaten in their last 23 games with 21 of them being won.

Portugal are also already through to the main round. A win here will be important for them as points earned against sides that also qualify are carried into the main round. The Portuguese side started this group off with a 31-24 win over Greece with the first half won by four points and the second by three. Their good form continued on Saturday with a 30-27 victory over the Czech Republic. Another strong first half performance was put in with them six points ahead at the break. The Czechs fought back well in the second half but Portugal never looked in danger of not winning. It's a return to form after losing two friendlies against Germany in early January. We tip them to beat Portugal and overcome a -7.5 goals handicap.
