Hosts Egypt have done well to reach the knockout stages of the Men's World Handball Cup. They face a tough task in the quarter finals though, when taking on defending champions Denmark. The Egyptian side began this competition with two wins and a narrow loss to Sweden in the preliminary round. That left them second in the table and into the main round. They finished second in that group too, beating the Russian Handball Federation and Belarus, before coming from four goals down at half time to get a 25-25 draw with Slovenia. It's an impressive record and that only loss was by a single goal. They could easily have reached this stage with an unbeaten record.

Denmark will be a tough nut to crack if Egypt want to make it to the semi-finals. The Danes are the reigning champions and only failed to make the last four in two of the last seven tournaments. Last year saw them put in a poor performance at the European Championships, failing to make it out of the preliminary round. They have turned their form around in these championships though and are again major title contenders. The preliminary round saw them win all three of their games with a goal difference of +45. Their good form continued in the main round with three more convincing wins, making it six out of six in this competition. A seventh victory looks more than likely here as they end Egypt's title hopes.
